LMS-E is a high-fidelity Lunar Mare simulant developed as the successor to NASA’s JSC-1A. Sourced from Merriam Crater materials, LMS-E closely replicates the mineralogical composition, chemical profile, and particle size distribution of authentic Lunar Mare regolith. Representing the basalt-rich Mare regions of the Moon explored during the Apollo missions, this simulant includes particle sizes ranging from fines up to 3–4 mm, accurately reproducing the geotechnical properties found on the lunar surface. LMS-E is ideal for medium- and large-scale engineering applications, including hardware testing, rover mobility trials, and Regolith Test Bed development in preparation for future human exploration of the Moon.
