Manufacturing Engineer Internship - Fall 2024

Are you a interested in manufacturing and eager to embark on an exciting journey of hands-on experience and innovation?

Our Manufacturing Engineer internship offers you a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, with four new talents joining every six weeks for a transformative 12-week internship. Dive into the world of operations for the first half, working alongside our experts, and gaining firsthand knowledge of our processes. Then, take the reins in the next six weeks to lead your team in identifying and implementing solutions and improvements. Your mission: to envision and execute personal enhancements while collaboratively crafting a substantial team improvement.

At Space Resource Technologies, we replicate the surfaces of the Moon, Mars, and Asteroids. Our materials are used by leading space companies like NASA, ESA, JAXA, private space companies, researchers, and educators throughout the world. By using our simulants, our customers are able to gain a better understanding of the surfaces of these planetary bodies and perform research for the future of space exploration. Working at Space Resource Technologies provides the opportunity to play a critical role in the NASA Artemis missions as well as the future of Humanity in space exploration and development as a whole.

Start date: 08/19/24 - End date: 12/07/24

Responsibilities:

  • Develop familiarity with specialized particle size reduction equipment including a hammermill, flail mill, jaw crusher, and ball mill
  • Develop familiarity with mineral mixing equipment and international distribution processes
  • Use prior experience and on-site experience to identify at least 1 improvement opportunity and implement a solution
  • Work cooperatively with a team of Manufacturing Engineering Interns under the guidance of Exolith Lab Engineers to identify at least 1 major improvement opportunity and work as a group to implement a solution

Basic Qualifications:

  • Availability for 12 hours per week of work for the 12-week duration
  • Degree-seeking student at UCF, Valencia, or Seminole
  • Ability to carry at least 35lbs on a regular basis
  • Must be able to work at least three, 4-hour shifts Monday-Friday from 9am to 1pm

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a production/manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience with Production and Distribution

Please note: this position is specifically for non-paid internships. Unpaid interns may work a maximum of 25 hours per week. These positions comply with the Fair Labor Standard Act.

Process Engineer

We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our innovative team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for individuals seeking to contribute to the forefront of space exploration while honing their expertise in implementing Lean Manufacturing principles into our cutting-edge processes, including particle size reduction, powder blending, and distribution.

By using our simulants, our customers can gain a better understanding of the surfaces of these planetary bodies and perform research for the future of space exploration.

Responsibilities:

  • Acquire proficiency in operating specialized particle size reduction equipment, such as a hammermill, flail mill, jaw crusher, and ball mill
  • Develop expertise in powder blending mixers
  • Understand domestic and international distribution processes
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to drive continuous process improvements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to carry up to 35lbs regularly
  • Consistent availability to work 15-20 hours per week
  • Live within commuting distance of Oviedo, Florida
  • Must be able to work within our shift blocks: 9am-1pm or 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Order fulfillment
  • Experience in a production/manufacturing workplace
  • Interest in the Space Industry/Space Development

Pay:

  • $15 - $18 per hour depending on experience

Executive Assistant

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Executive Assistant to support our Business Development and ensure the smooth operation of our business administration activities. The ideal candidate will handle customer service inquiries, manage procurement for business needs, and coordinate and attend business activities and events.

  • Procurement Management: Oversee procurement processes, including sourcing and purchasing supplies and services necessary for business operations
  • Business Coordination: Coordinate and manage team activities and events, including organizing meetings, team-building events, and other company functions

Operations Supervisor

The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing and distribution of our products, managing process flows to improve efficiency, handling supply chain and inventory management, conducting inventory procurement, and ensuring optimal stock levels. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to manage daily operations to ensure smooth product flow.

  • Inventory Management: Conduct inventory procurement, monitor stock levels, and ensure optimal inventory to meet production demands
  • Daily Operations: Manage daily operational activities, ensuring seamless product flow and addressing any issues that may arise
